Constipation for Toodlers

Due to the stomach flu tigerbaby caught last week, she has develop constipation. Due to I have always been careful with her diet and past motion tracking, if had a feeling something was not right after 2 days she didn't poo as she never pass 2 days of her record

Day 1 (fri)  - No Poo. Ok , probraly due to stomach flu and I have given her medicine to stop vomitting so thinking that could be the cause. no action was taken

Day 2 - No Poo. But she had solid meals. 2 piece of bread, a lot of fruits and vegetables with Rice too. End of the day, I was thinking probraly it is lack of exercise and lack of water in take.

Day 3 - still No Poo. Now that is something real wrong as she had 1/2 bowl of chicken rice on day 1, one whole fruit of dragon fruit and 2 small bananas and on day 2 she had bread, fruits and heaps of bananas and 2-3 cups of liquid. She went for a swim, a one hour shopping trip , Why isn't she poo-ing?

Obviously mother instict starts to kick in. Ask a few friends and was told to do the below so this is just a simple record of what needs to be done if your child has "constipation" or haven't poo more than 2 days.

- Make barley drink for the kid
- Provide more exercises, for walking, running or swimmig
- Massage in clock wise direction
- Apply Ru Yu Oil or Peppermint Essential Oil

If after 1 day the above didn't help, you can
- Go phamacy to get this Gelatin Suppositories (it is again something to stuck in the butt and after waiting for a while or about 15 mins the kid would poo)

To be honest, i don't know whether was it the suppository that did the magic. However as waiting for blurdad to buy it back. for One hour, every 15 mins I brought tigerbaby to the toilet and let her sit for 5 mins, took her down, massage her tummy. Once medicine was back, I stuck one bullet in, wore her pants and wash my hand , she told me she wants to go toilet. And pop, the bullet came out and she started to poo

with a combination of liquid, massage, oils and a bullet in her arse, finally my tigerbaby pooped!!

Notes: Doesn't mean providing heaps of fiber would help if it is lack of Water liquid, it actually might cause constipation to as other mothers shared. So take note, end of the day, Water is very important and Barley does helps a lot. Reason? One glass of barley given today and she poo a lot (as of today Day 4)

Stomach Flu - Symptoms and Treatment

When tigerbaby got her 1st stomach flu, cluelessmom was a bit lost as its symthoms are different from the usual cold and flu. WIth that, thanks to a group of ladies, I learnt what need to be done and what to take note

Synthoms
- Vomitting
- Diaroaa
- Exessive tiredness
- Lethargic
- Mild Fever
- Nausea

If vomitting more than 2 times and in a close duration (within 1 hour x 2 times) - please bring to see a doctor

Things to Take Note On
Ensure the child has enough fluid. Can give Glucose Drink (in Asia countries, you can get it from Supermarket - its a purple coloured tin) , Barley Drink and Porridges Water (that is you cook porridge, put a lot of water to cook it )

Plain crackers are like Meiji Plain Crackers are fine.  Wholemeal bread or plain bread was given to tigerbaby but as chart say Toast , but you don't have to really use a toaster to toast it . Just give simple bread and not those fancy type you get from bakery as they might have butter in it which will cause discomfort to the stomach .  However TOAST bread tend to ease nauseaness , so you can try to give toast if you are sure that your child drinks liquids easily or else it might cause slight heatyness

Use Essential Oil

Basic 4 Essential Oils

Some mummies friends introduced essential oil to me recently last 2 months.  It seems to be the "new" self medication rave at the moment. Very skeptical at the start but slowly started it. To my readers, please do take the time to understand it and not fully listen those who recommended to you. Do put a little time to research on web or ask around at least. As the "kiasu" me, I asked more than 5 advance users before I started using the basic.

Indeed, it does help from a prevention and also early stages of syntopms.

Just a brief post to record the teachings and notes so that I do not forget (as you all know, clueless mom is getting forgetful too)

Basic Essential Oil Kit:
1) Lavender
2) Eucalyptus
3) Tree Tee Oil
4) Peppermint **

** Peppermint: Though it is under my Basic list , but it is a very powerful EO that need extra care.

1) Lavendar
Good for relaxation, Itchyness

2) Eucalytus
Good for cold and flu , running nose, chest feeling tightness

3) Tea Tee Oil
Good for antiseptic (what Dettol can do , it can do as well) and I love the smell and use it as a Fraqance for the house with the "spray spray method" *will talk more about this later*

4) Peppermint
Good for fever and indigestion

For Fever:
Use Peppermint for SPINE and Feet  (due to it is very stimulating eo, so don't use CHEST)
Use Eucalytus for CHEST and Back

For Flu and Cold:
Use Eucalytus for CHEST and Back (wait 2 mins) then
Use Lavendar for CHEST and Back (wait 2 mins) then
User Tea tree Oil

Usage:
drop 3 drop of Carrier Oil (for eg: Sweet Almond Oil) and 1 drop of EO into the your palm. Rub it and then rub massage on your child chest and back and feet (and then try to make them put on socks) if they don't want, just forget about it as it can get like a war zone just to make kids wear socks!

How to rub? Imagine you are at a Spa massage and how you get your massage thats the way to do it.  a or else check some vidoes online for reference, or just rub it will do. No need to be too picky about it.

  • For Intense Treatment (every 1-2 hours application type), maximum of 5 days for Acute Illnesses (for eg, stomach flu)
  • For Normal treatment, can not do more than 7 days

If treatment is started early enough, as soon as the first symptoms, the duration can be very short (12-48 hours)

For acute disorders, the duration is generally extended to 5-7 days at fairly strong doses.
For normal small problems (example chronic diseaees), do maximum 3 weeks and rest 1 week or lower doses

For Babies , to my info, use only Lavendar, Eculytus and Tea tree oil. Please do not use any others!
For Toodlers,  use pepermint only for Fever happens otherwise, try not to use it for anyhow reasons

Spray Spray method: Get a spray bottle 100 ml size + Add distlied water + 5 drops of tea tree oil

  2、前两周以排毒为主(猪肝和腰子有助排毒),一定不能吃大补和大热的东东(如桂园和蹄膀等),因为新妈妈经过生育,整个人非常虚弱,这时候大补不但吸收不到精华,且只会长膘,而且这时候长得膘很难减掉,热性的食物对奶水也不好,宝宝吃了容易便秘;
  3、尽量用麻油炒菜,麻油有削减脂肪的功效,比一般食用油不长脂;
  4、水果一定不能忘,但是前两周也不能大补,道理和2是一样的,多吃些哈密瓜、木瓜、葡萄等,西瓜什么的不要急着吃,因为西瓜太凉性;
  5、任何冷的流质食物都要加热后再吃,否则不利于子宫归位,不能刺激肠胃;
  6、第4周开始可以补力气了(如鸡肉等),第二个月开始和大家一样吃,但还是要注意清淡,否则宝宝受不了,自己也容易肿;
  7、任何要加糖的点心食物都采用红糖,有助于恶露排出;
  8、月子里早餐主食是糯米稀粥;中餐主食是薏米饭(薏米有排水消肿的效果的)不吃大米;晚餐主食是鱼汤。鱼汤(老姜用麻油爆的起皮后再煎鱼块,鱼用肉质松软的鱼,加水煮熟,到鱼汤变白即可),淡的,奶水好的小秘诀哦;

MY: Huggies Dry Pants

Decided to join in the Huggies Dry Pants "Change for Better Convenience" blogger contest. With that, I requested a sample pack For malaysia mummies out there, do please go to the below link to request for one.
http://www.huggies.com.my/huggies-community/request-a-sample.aspx

Received a contest SAMPLE SET. Really a nice sample combi I have to say. They provide:

  • 1 packet x Size M (5 -10kg)
  • 1 packet x Size L   (8-13kg)
  • 1 packet x Size XL (11-16kg)
  • 2 Pouch Carrier
  • A catologe

Since tigerbaby is a small size, decided to give Size M a try out.

As an excited mom to try out her new "gadget", when I opened out the packet (which have 4 pieces) in it and took out one piece trying to figure out which side is FRONT and which is BACK. After a few seconds I still couldn't figure out. As I was rushing out for breakfast, I decided just put it in whichever side it is.
(E) Wear Any Side Snug Fit -  After I returned from breakfast, look carefully at packaging, then only I realised it is designed that its doesn't have front/back mode. Indeed a very conveinent feature specially for Grandparents to wear it.

Though Tigerbaby had approx  100ml of liquid before the Pants/underwear change and my next checked, the Pants was not extremely heavy and position low but when I touch it seems quite a lot.
(B) Quick Lock System - Absorbtion is quite acceptable however for the duration lesser than 2 hours it seems not as great as Mama Poko's.  Nevertheless, it does keep tigerbaby private area dry which is one key thing most critical to Pants selection.

When wearing the pants for tigerbaby, first thing I realised it is its slides. It is different from other brands.
(D) Soft Stretch Slides, I loved it!!  It is definitely one nice feature compare to other brands as it doesn't leave those zigzag marks on tigerbaby skins after usage.

As for the below features, I personally feel it is pretty much the common feature.
(A) 100% Breatherable Outer Cover
(C) Double leak Barriers - the leak barriers are indeed very easy to open up and the quality are much nicer to BabyLoves
(F) Tear every Side Seams

I guess for 4 piece selling price in Supermarket would be RM 3.90 (which means one piece is $0.98) as advertise on the packaging.

Now is the pricing comparison with other brands. As for its unique features on (E) Wear Any Side Snug Fit  and (D) Soft Stretch Slides I would recommend for parents to try to get at least a sample or if there is promotion in stores to try out. It is really easy for caretakers (specially grandparents that help out) as they can just wear it and not worry whether which side is the front or back. Besides the soft stretch slides would make parents well "less heart pain" not to see those zigzag marks on the sides of their hips.

Pants are indeed must easier to use as its popular phrase "Koyak, Salin & Lepas" - "Tear, Change and Drop". You just need to tear the side, it drops easily and just throw. Pull it up a new piece wherever there are and not worrying the stick on the latches and needing to lie them flat. Obviously the price would be more expensive thatn the stick on diapers but it has it features to assist and provide convenience.

Kleenex Toilet Roll

I really think I am like those "Market Aunties" when I planned to write a post on "TOILET ROLLS"

Neways since I feel it is good info, might as well blog about it to share with others.

Kleenex is a good brand toilet roll provider. Neways there are other brands that I quite fancy but it seems this has been my parents favourite so I kinda decided to check out in terms of pricing comparison

Kleenex JUMBO ROLL (Ultra Soft) 2200 sheets 10 rolls

NTUC Special SG $6.95 (Usual Price $7.45) -
**seriously 8/10 times I visit NTUC it always have this Promotion... so to me it is pretty much 6.95 pricing

Cold Storage Usual Price SG$7.95

$1 extra!!

Well to many, that $1 extra doesn't make much difference but with other household items, easily can add up to $10 per shopping trip. hahaha I really sound like a Yellow Face House Wife when I am writting this...

Note: Yellow Face House Wife (a direct transalation from Mandarin description) is pretty much those woman you see on TV show that is very badly dress, bargain over everything they find and always on hunt for sales, discount and promotions.. lolz

MY SG Diapers: BabyLove PlayPants L9-14kg

BabyLove PlayPants, its from the same company as "PetPet".

As for pricing, it is cheaper than "MamaPoko" extra SoftFit pants. *will update with pricing comparison later on as i forgot the exact, but I remember clearly that it is cheaper which result me buying it* :P

Verdict:

The texture of the pants is not as soft and smooth as Mamapoko SoftFit. However it is compatible with the amount of wetness storage. It was worn for nearly 12 hours and it didn't leak.

It seems there is a double inner protection (inner guard as they called it) so do "open" it up properly when you wear it on the toodler.  Close to mamapoko but it seems the inner protection isn't that flexible as mamapoko's SoftFit so make sure you open it properly.

In Summary:
For the price and quality, I would be supporting BabyLove Pants from now on. Unless MamaPoko SoftFit has a promotion discount than I would be for it, as the reasons are it is indeed softer texture and the quality is pretty much like a piece of cotton vs Babylove's you can feel it is a bit like paper texture more.

Note:
There are 2 types. One is call <PlayPants> which is this one I am trying out and one is call <GrowPants> I really don't know what is the difference but guess I would check out the <GrowPants> version when I get one.

Currently:
BabyLove <GrowPants L 30> in SG selling SG10.80 (Fairprice NTUC) = $0.36 per pc

MamaPoko <EasyFit L 38> in SG selling SG13.90 (Fairprice NTUC) = $0.36 per pc

MamaPoko <SoftFit L 28> in SG selling SG15.20 (Fairprice NTUC) = $0.54 per pc

Note: Tigerbaby used MamaPoko <EasyFit L 38> before and it can only be use for Day Time and not for Night time. I would post a detailed review on it soon.

Are you really suitable to be a Teacher?

As Tigerbaby going to "school" aka Kindergarten now, I start to encounter with teachers. It gave me a flash back to when I was primary age 12 and recall to one of my primary teacher, Ms Tan. *i forgot her full name, I can't even recall what subject she taught..* but I remember very well how she treated her students.

Note: Eventhough my mom was busy working full time she tends to check on our homework. Usually she would take out our homework and go through them and so a small sign at a corner of a page to mark where she stop so she could continue from there on.

One fine day, this Ms Tan was very angry when she entered the classroom. She called out my name and gave me a lecture. Seriously I couldn't recall what it was and didnt understand much. However she was scolding me and told me to get a new exercise book because she say that the book is meant to have only her writings and mine ..etc... I didn't know what was going on seriously.. and started to cry.

In a way I was humilated in front of my whole class and couldn't understand what did I do wrong as I was in shocked being called to stand and yelled at.  The next thing she did was called up another boy and did the same and started to scold but i don't know what it was about but not the same case as mine.

It lasted for a while and when i got home and told my mom about it , i couldn't even tell the whole story. As of course as a parent, my mom called the school and "check" what had happen and after a while I understand what was all about (which enable me to write this)

Till today, that incident of me being ask to stand in class (I think was throughout the whole session) and to be scold for such a thing at such a young age is totally unaceptable. As a teacher she could have found other ways to tell me about it and not make a scene of such. As what the teacher did, she made me felt shameful of myself. Shameful of my mom. Thinking why my mom had to do that? But all she did was to check her daughters homework. It wasn't a big sign it was a little one that pretty much isn't any effect on the main work. Far most, other teachers didn't have any problem but only her.  But What she did just made me feel ashamed.

She would also be very nice to student who are talented with singing as she was a choir teacher for the school. Always praise the kids who are good with academic a lot in front of others but de-moralise other kids who are academic poorer in front of others.

As a primary school kid and as all kids these days, we would always try to impress our class teacher. Indeed due to my family background I wasn't one of the favourite and that cause me felt a exclusion of the usual academic or musically talented kids. Due to this incident, it indeed allowed me to experience what discrimination is all about. As later on, my mom found out more about this teacher and was told she is just jeolous of who we are and felt she was a teacher and should be more supreme... >.<

I know I am writing this post bit and pieces here and there but i think you get the glitch :P

The point of my this post:

If you don't have a good heart to be a teacher, please don't be one.  A kid childhood may be scar due to what you do. Evenso, these days it is harder to be a teacher as you need to teach, and prepare teaching materials and even attend to curiculums activities, please have a heart of a teacher. A child soul is so pure which can be easily scar by your one action or one sentence. If you have a turf with the parent , you can always talk one to one with the parent and not take it on the child.

As a Parent, you have your rights to be parent. And if you think you are doing something benefital to your child or helping / supporting academic, please do it! If you think you are worry that teachers might get offended, just check with the teachers first. However I find if a parent show their concern for their kids , the teacher should be happy that a parent cared for the kid and not the other way.

My Primary School was in a small town called Seremban in Malaysia.
